Several people have told me to remove the accumulator spring to make my trans shift harder. Does this hurt the trans, and where is and how do you remove the spring? Thanks.

the spring they are talking about is under the valve body , when you remove the valvebody there is a spring and plasctic piston that will fall out , this is the spring .

Removing the spring will not hurt it, but will not keep the accumulator piston from now "floating" at will. If you're going to remove it, build a "shim" that will prevent its movement.

Removing the spring only, does not firm the 1-2 shift. You have to install a blocker rod to hold the piston down after removing the spring. 1/2" diamter x 3" long. John
