Distributor Drive Gear Bushing

If your timing mark is 'Jumping' around alot while you're trying to set the
timing then the bushing in the pics below may need to be replaced.

The bronze style bushing in the pic below is the replacement type for the
alum type from the factory and is the same for the SB and BB engines.

The tool picutered below is to install the bushing in the above pic.


The tool presses and also sizes the bushing to the correct size for the
dist drive shaft gear in the pic below.

Anyone know who sells a aftermarket bushing for the dist. drive gear on a smallblock mopar? I have a factory one but I don`t have the tool to install. Help! Mike

Pioneer sells the bushings under part # 839007.
I've always checked to make sure it fits properly on the dist/oil pump drive shaft before installation and then used something as soft or softer than the bronze to drive the bushing into place being careful not to distort the inner diameter.
