BEWARE! Some boxes from '72 and '73 arent cut out for a fuel filler hole. Regualr cabs had their tanks behind the seat. Same with Club Cabs, they had their filler on the left rear, behind the window!
Thats an issue I'm going to have to deal with when I swap on my '79 bed.

But, otherwise, they are the same. Heck, I even saw an 80s box bolted onto a '74-ish Club Cab!

when it comes to the 72-79 dodge pick ups you have to improvise as nobody makes anything in the after market for a 72-79. mine has a lund roll pan that the book only shows fitting an 81-93, fits my 74 perfect. also a bed cover will fit 72-93 same dimensions again, we've done it. and the best one yet while building my truck the bell tech book showed nothing for lowering a pre 94 dodge, i lowered the rear with a flip kit for a 73-87 chevy 1/2 ton, fit perfect. heres a pic of the roll pan that is not supposed to fit according to lund and it used to have a covercraft bed cover but we put it on our 85, again a perfect fit.

"So all the beds are the same dimensions from 72-93"
Yes there are fuel filler and tail light differences, but they are the same dimentions and mount to the frame almost exactly the same.

D100:
is that tailgate original to the 74?
Never saw a raised letter tailgate after 73.

i'm using the one I have off my 72 on my 78 because I hate the flat tailgate

'81 to '93 have different taillights and body line on box is different than previous.
Bed cover...www.checkerpro.com very good product (I've got one)
Roll pan...www.mar-k.com about $120.00 I believe.
Lowering '72-'93 www.aimind.com or dooleyandsons.com or Chisholm Enterpr. (800) 848-2333
Any other '72-'93 Q's...www.ramchargercentral.com great people like Moparts but for Dodge trucks.
E-mail me for more info, I don't get in here often.
