1970 Challenger Vanishing Point

This is a 1970 Challenger Vanishing Point entry, of which I've been working on for the past year and a half...in order to fullfile a thirty year dream. From the start, is was...and has been my intent, to make it one of the most truly VP accurate reproductions in existance.... Ever since I was 18, and first saw the movie, somehow, I just knew at some point in my life, I would have *that* VP car....:)
I'm pushing the closer side of 50 now, so that tells you how long this dream has taken...lol!
Anyway, this car has been completely refurbished in everyway, shape and form. Yet, it retained its originality, except for the color changes....
She has the originial 383 engine, 4-speed pistol grip, and 3.55 rear end...
The engine and tranny have been rebuilt to stock specs.....albeit a .30 overbore...
Although it was originally "burnt orange" in color, as to exterior and interior...She is now current Chrysler code "PW7-Bright White" on the outside, and black on the interior....
The original VP cars, shot during the movie...were Alpine White. However, the movie made them appear as a angelic white in color... Whereas, Alpine white is actually more cream-colored in appearance....
It was my wish to make this VP replication as *close* to the movie-viewing version as possible. Thus, my reason for going with current Chrysler Code PW7...
In addition, to match the movie...I installed a mint Rim-Blow steering wheel, single-driver side mirror, A.M. radio (original), 15 " spare in the trunk (although, a collapsable would have been more proper as to car originality, yet...it WAS a 15" spare that Kowalski pulled out of the trunk, in the desert)...., and other associated items to make this car as close to the movie version as reasonably possible...
But, the most important thing is that no expense was spared in regard to the paint stripping, preperation, and repaint....
This car, viewed from any angle...is razor sharp in appearance.....
Yet, she borders between a "trailer queen", and an "occasional driver"
Many thanks, best regards, and please keep up you EXCELLENT web site maintenance! I've never seen a site so full of great info....:)
